“What is perfection in loneliness?” he asked.
“Perfection in loneliness is the state of being complete and content without anyone or anything else,” the voice said. “It is the state of being free from all attachments and desires. It is the state of being one with the Universe.”

He was once the most powerful and respected king in the land. He had conquered many enemies, built magnificent cities, and amassed a vast fortune. He was also a lover of knowledge, and he spent his days studying ancient scrolls, deciphering mysterious codes, and learning from wise scholars.
One day, he heard of a hidden cave that contained a great secret. A secret that could unlock the mysteries of the universe and grant him ultimate wisdom. He was intrigued by this rumor, and he decided to find the cave and discover its secret.
He gathered his best soldiers and explorers, and set off on a perilous journey. He faced many dangers along the way. After many months, he finally arrived at the cave. It was dark and silent, and he felt a strange chill in the air. He entered the cave with his torch, followed by his men. He walked deeper and deeper into the cave, until he reached a large chamber.
There, he saw a huge stone tablet with strange symbols carved on it. He recognized them as an ancient language that he had learned from one of his scrolls. He approached the tablet and began to read it aloud.
As he read, he felt a surge of energy in his mind. He felt his understanding expand, his memory sharpen, and his intelligence increase. He realized that he was reading the secret of the universe, the answer to everything.
He was ecstatic. He had achieved his lifelong dream. He had become the king of knowledge.
He decided to share his newfound wisdom with his people. He thought they would be grateful and amazed by his discovery. He thought they would honor him and follow him.
He was wrong.
He returned to his kingdom with his remaining men. He gathered his subjects in the palace and announced his great achievement. He told them he had found the secret of the universe, the answer to everything. He told them some of the secrets he had learned, such as how to manipulate matter and energy, how to travel through time and space, and how to create and destroy life.
He expected them to be awed and curious. He expected them to ask him questions and learn from him.
He was wrong.
They were terrified and angry. They thought he was lying or mad. They thought he was blaspheming or possessed. They thought he was a threat and a traitor.
They turned against him.
They shouted insults and curses at him. They threw stones and spears at him. They tried to kill him.
He was shocked and hurt. He couldn’t understand why they hated him so much. He couldn’t understand why they rejected him so harshly.
He ran for his life.
He escaped from the palace alone. He fled from the city and hid in the wilderness.
He was alone.
He realized that he had made a terrible mistake. He had been naive and arrogant. He had revealed too much too soon, without considering the consequences.
He had lost everything.
He decided to return to the cave where he had found the secret of the universe. He thought it was the only place where he could be safe and happy. He thought it was the only place where he could study and learn more.
He was wrong.
He arrived at the cave. He entered the cave with his torch, and walked deeper and deeper into the cave, until he reached the large chamber where the stone tablet was.
There, he saw a horrifying sight.
The stone tablet was gone. In its place, there was a throne on a tree. And from the darkness comes a dark and sinister voice.
“Welcome back, king of knowledge. I’ve been expecting you.”
He didn’t recognize the voice. It was a cold and cruel voice. It was a voice that filled him with dread and despair.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“I am the Universe,” the voice said. “I am the source of all secrets and all mysteries. I am the one who gave you the stone tablet and the knowledge you sought.”
“Why did you do that?” he asked.
“Because I wanted to test you,” the voice said. “I wanted to see what you would do with the knowledge I gave you. I wanted to see if you would use it wisely or foolishly, if you would share it generously or selfishly, if you would seek more knowledge or more power.”
“And what did you find?” he asked.
“I found that you failed,” the voice said. “You failed miserably. You used the knowledge foolishly and selfishly. You revealed it too soon and too much. You caused fear and chaos among your people. You lost your kingdom and your life.”
“What do you want from me now?” he asked.
“I want to give you a choice,” the voice said. “A choice between two paths. One path leads to death, the other to perfection.”
“What are these paths?” he asked.
“The first path is to leave this cave and face your enemy,” the voice said. “Your enemy who has followed you and found this cave. Your enemy who has stolen the stone tablet and used its secrets to overthrow you and rule the world. Your enemy who has become more powerful than you can imagine. Your enemy who is waiting for you outside, ready to kill you.”
“And the second path?” he asked.
“The second path is to stay in this cave and study more secrets,” the voice said. “More secrets that I will reveal to you. More secrets that will make you wiser and happier. More secrets that will help you achieve perfection in loneliness.”
“What is perfection in loneliness?” he asked.
“Perfection in loneliness is the state of being complete and content without anyone or anything else,” the voice said. “It is the state of being free from all attachments and desires. It is the state of being one with the Universe.”
He was tempted by the second path. He was curious about the secrets that the voice would reveal to him.
He made his choice.
He decided to stay in the cave and study more secrets.
He stayed in the cave and studied more secrets. He learned more about matter and energy, time and space, life and death. He learned more about himself and the Universe.
But he didn’t become wiser or happier. He became more confused and miserable. He realized that the more he knew, the less he understood. He realized that the more he learned, the more he forgot.
He forgot his name and his identity. He forgot his friends and his family. He forgot his kingdom and his world.
He forgot everything.
He became nothing.
He stayed in the cave for eternity.
Meanwhile, his enemy ruled the world with an iron fist. He used the secrets of the stone tablet to oppress and enslave his people. He used the secrets of the stone tablet to wage war and destroy his enemies. He used the secrets of the stone tablet to create and annihilate life. They became everything and ruled the world for eternity.
